Over 20,000 people in northwest Oregon signed up to participate in the Great Oregon ShakeOut Earthquake drill that was held on October 15.  Included in that number were the residents of Cape Meares.

At 10:15 AM on October 15, residents of Cape Meares were asked to “Drop, Cover, and Hold” for approximately three minutes and then head for their nearest assembly point and  safely above the elevation where a tsunami following an earthquake might reach.

Captains of the seven Cape Meares neighborhoods identified as part of the Map Your Neighborhood (MYN) project that was initiated four years ago were asked to make note of the number of residents who reached the assembly point and whether all had brought along their go-bags with them.
