Water Shut Off for Cape Meares

Water
Shut-Off

7:00 AM

Parts of Cape Meares will be without water beginning at 7 AM on Friday. Service will be interrupted for approximately five hours while the connection to the new water tank is completed.

The area affected by the shut off will be individual homes on 7th, 8th, 9th, and Bayocean Road. You will know if your service will be interrupted by seeing a small yellow flag located near the connection box of your home water meter.  If you don’t see a flag on your property water service should be normal. If you have a yellow flag at your meter box, please turn off the water at your meter after 7 AM.  If you are unable to do this yourself this will be done for you. The reason that residents are asked to turn off the water at the meter is because the system needs to be drained.  The Oceanside Water District operator does not want to drain water from homes and risk damaging personal property.Residents are asked to clean the interior of their meter boxes prior to the Friday shut off to speed up the process.  Moles frequently burrow into the area surrounding the meter making it difficult to access the shut-off valve.
