Community Updates – March 2024

By Beverly Stein, CMCA President

Board Report

  • We have three signage projects that the Tillamook Visitors Association is going to design, build and install in the community.  We will have a 3-sided interpretive kiosk which will be installed at the Bayocean entrance to the beach, a sign in front of the community center describing the community history, and an entry sign to the community.  Expect to see the new signs by fall.
  • Our Good Neighbor Guide is nearly ready for production.  We should have 500 copies by summer.
  • The Board appointed a committee of Bev Stein, Simone Goldfeder and Scott Gordon to negotiate an agreement between CMCA and The Conservation Fund regarding their role as bridge buyer (see Watershed Conservancy Project page for article and more information).
  • The Board appointed a committee to design a landscape plan for the community center.  Patti Smith, Guy Kyle and Simone Goldfeder agreed to serve.  If you have input please email capemearesca@gmail.com.

Consider Volunteering for CMCA

CMCA depends entirely on volunteers to host our potlucks, maintain the community center, prepare us for emergencies and many more community-building activities.  Please consider volunteering.  Below are a list of current volunteer needs. If you want to volunteer or have questions email capemearesca@gmail.com.

  • Volunteer to help plan and implement our first Annual Meeting and Appreciation Banquet on May 18.  Email capemearesca@gmail.com.
  • Adopt one of our three emergency supply sheds which involves wiping down the interior of the shed once a year, keeping an eye on its structural integrity and keeping plant life away from the shed. Email Kathy Burke .
  • Coordinate logistics for a September presentation on wildfires, septic systems and downed power lines (presenters are already signed up).  Email capemearesca@gmail.com.
  • Volunteer for our annual silent auction on July 4.  We need people to solicit donations for the auction and to help set it up.  Email Pam to find out how you can help.
  • Volunteer to host the Memorial Day Potluck which involves advertising the potluck and recruiting volunteers to set up and clean up.
