Labor Day (2016) was greeted by about 50 residents who attended the community potluck and then were entertained afterwards by local talent as well as original compositions of lyrics to songs written by Cape Meares’ own self-appointed poet laureate, Deborah Thomas Neal.

If you missed the entertainment and are curious about the lyrics of the four songs Deborah wrote for the occasion you can view PDFs by clicking on a link from the list shown below.

Below are pictures taken of the local talent that shared their musical talents.

4K for Cancer (2016)

For the third year in a row the Cape Meares Community Association has been the host of the ceremonial dipping of the tires into the Pacific Ocean by riders who have traveled 4,000 miles from Baltimore to Cape Meares and then back to Portland where they conclude their trip.  This is a annual bike ride to raise money to support the fight against cancer.

This year there were 23 riders who arrived on August 9 for the ceremonial dipping plus lots of fun afterwards.

Thanks to everyone who provided food for this event and for the Johanson’s for taking care of much of the organization for this very good cause.
