4K for Cancer Cyclists Visit Cape Meares

For more than two months a group of 29 cyclists, 19 women and 10 men have been traveling across the United States with a final destination of Portland after a stop in Cape Meares on Day 67 to dip their front tires  in the Pacific Ocean.  By Day 70 every rider will have biked around 4200 miles.

CMCA had the pleasure of providing a lunch for this group of young people who were raising money to fight cancer.  So far their efforts have been successful in raising more than $1 million.

Following the lunch provided by Cape Meares residents as well as CMCA, the cyclists shared information about their home towns and also discussed why they started this journey.  The group of young people also included a cancer surviver who had been afflicted with leukemia two years ago.

After the tire dipping the cyclists experienced pure joy as they frolicked in the Pacific Ocean before they mounted their bikes for a ride back to Tillamook.  Then it will be off to Pacific City followed by a ride to McMinnville and then on to Portland and the finish line for their great adventure.
